Counselling for Women and Girls of Color
You're Struggling with Stress, Anxiety, or Perhaps Depression.
You Can't Remember the Last Time Life Felt Good for You or Your Daughter.

You’re a Black, Indigenous, or other woman of color (BIWOC) who is struggling, or a parent who is worried about your daughter and doesn't know how to help her.
You have a sadness that won't lift.
A worry that follows you everywhere.
A heaviness has settled over everything, making it hard to feel motivated, connected, or hopeful.
Your emotions may be overwhelming, and you may not have the words for everything you’re feeling.
If You’re Seeking Counselling for Yourself….
Maybe you live with stress that is about to break you.
Perhaps your relationships are suffering, and you don't know how to fix them.
As a BIWOC, you may experience multiple, sometimes invisible barriers. Your race, gender, culture, ability, neurodivergent mind, income, class, or sexuality may combine in ways that make you feel misunderstood.
It is exhausting to navigate spaces that weren't built with you in mind; to hold the weight of being stereotyped, underestimated, or dismissed in your daily life.
Maybe the expectations of family or community are conflicting with your values.
Somewhere along the way, you've lost your sense of joy and purpose.
You’re seeking support to create meaningful change in your life.

If You’re Seeking Counselling for Your Daughter….
It’s hard to watch the child you love struggle.
Your daughter may be withdrawn, anxious, or struggling socially.
Perhaps she has fluctuating moods, lacks confidence, or has problems with her peers.
On top of everything she is going through, the world is sending her complicated messages about her worth, her appearance, and her place in it.
She may be experiencing anxiety, depression, or ADHD, and these challenges may be intensified by the stress of being part of a minority group.
You love your daughter and are looking for the best way to support her. This can be a great first step.
I’m Amrin, a Therapist Who Understands These Struggles
As a therapist who is a woman of colour, this work matters deeply to me professionally and personally. I understand firsthand how race, culture, and identity shape and compound the struggles that bring women and girls to therapy.
In my 25 years of practicing counselling, I have helped women who arrived feeling lost and depleted, and helped them find their way back to themselves. I have worked with girls who arrived not yet knowing their own worth and helped them find it.
Using an evidence-based and trauma-informed approach, I’ll honour your background, your culture, and everything that makes you who you are. I’ll create a space where you or your daughter feel safe, seen, and free to figure out who you want to be, without the noise of everyone else's expectations.
