My Counselling Approach

It’s Hard to Move on After a Loss

Grief doesn’t follow a timeline.  It lingers and can feel like it will never end.

COUNSELLING CAN HELP YOU MOVE FORWARD, STEP BY STEP.

Grief affects you in ways that are often unpredictable. It can shift from day to day, or even hour to hour.

At times, it feels relentless. Just when it starts to ease up, it comes rushing back.

You may feel waves of sadness, anxiety, anger, or an emptiness that doesn’t go away.

Sometimes it feels like you’ll never get relief from the pain.

You may be dealing with the loss of someone through death, the end of a relationship, or another significant loss that has left you struggling to cope.

Even if it doesn’t feel like it right now, with specialized counselling, dealing with grief can get easier.

YOU MAY BE EXPERIENCING SOME OF THE FOLLOWING:

Intense, Overwhelming Emotions: It’s hard to contain or control your feelings. They often arise unexpectedly. It’s often too much to bear.

A Sense of Emptiness or Loss: There’s a feeling of heaviness that doesn’t go away, regardless of what you do.

Feeling Alone or Disconnected: Even with support from others, it can feel like no one fully understands what you are going through.

Exhaustion and Mental Fog: You feel drained. It’s difficult to think clearly, focus, and complete daily tasks.

Guilt, Regret, or “What Ifs”: You replay the past, wishing things had been different or question your choices.

Feeling Stuck: You may think that others are moving on while you’re not, and can’t imagine how life can continue without the one you’ve lost.

How Grief Counselling Can Help

With grief counselling, you can begin to feel more like yourself again.

The heaviness can begin to lift, and your days can feel more manageable.

You’ll start to have more moments where the grief doesn’t consume you. You’ll feel like you can breathe again.

An Experienced Counsellor Who Understands Grief and Loss

I bring over 2 decades of experience counselling people through grief and loss, as well as trauma, depression, and anxiety that often go along with it.

This includes working with individuals and families facing serious illness, end of life, and sudden or unexpected loss, as well as those navigating the end of relationships or experiencing other significant life changes.

Through my counselling work, I’ve sat with people in some of the most difficult moments of their lives. I’ve seen how grief can show up in different ways and how deeply it can affect how one thinks, feels, and copes day to day. I know how long the nights can be and how hard it is to imagine feeling better than you do right now.

But I’ve also witnessed what is possible when someone finally feels truly heard in their grief. The intensity often eases, and they begin to find steadier ground again.

My therapy approach is grounded in research and shaped by my profession and personal experience. This allows me to meet you with deep understanding and compassion. It means I respect your culture, identity, and beliefs, while focusing on what you need at this stage of your life.

Through grief counselling, you may notice:

The waves of grief still come - but they no longer knock you over. The intensity softens. You start to find your footing again.

You can be present in your own life again. You’re not pulled constantly into the past or dreading the future. You’re more able to engage with what’s in front of you.

The loneliness begins to lift. You feel less alone in what you're carrying, and start to understand that your feelings are normal.

Your body starts to rest. The exhaustion and mental fog ease. You can think clearly again.

You find a way to carry the loss rather than be crushed by it. It doesn't disappear. But it finds a place, and life begins to feel livable again.

Grief is one of the heaviest emotions you can carry. It can also be one of the loneliest, even when people around you are trying to help.

You don’t have to keep carrying this loss alone.

I would be honoured to walk on this path of healing with you.
